In the years that passed, females cannot just be taken for granted since most famous female inventors have contributed enormously to the invention world. Life saving medical inventions and automatic dishwasher are just some of the inventions of the famous female inventors, and we cannot deny that we use these things and It affects our daily lifestyle.

A brief look at some famous and not-so-famous women inventors.

Josephine Garis Cochran is a famous female inventor and has truly contributed a lot especially in our homes, Josephine has been known for inventing the first ever practical mechanical dishwasher last 1886. Mrs. Cochran did not hesitate to share her wealth with other people, aside from her invention she has also been known for holding different parties. Although she had servants to do the dishes, she was unhappy about how long it took and how many dishes the servants chipped. Because of her experience with her servants and the slow flow of dishwashing, she once said that “If nobody else is going to invent a dishwashing machine, I’ll do it myself!” and so she did.

Mrs. Cochran went about building one herself. Her friends were quite impressed and had her make machines for them as well. After she made a dishwashing machine for her friends, many people have learned about it and so, many restaurants and hotel are ordering from her. She got a patent on her design and went into production. Because of her brilliant invention, she gained a lot of recognition causing her to win the highest awards at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

Mrs. Cochrane has been talked about in Chicago because her friends have been spreading words about her brilliant invention causing her to get orders from different hotels and restaurants. She got her design licensed before she was able to produce more machines. At the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, she showcased her invention and received the highest award.

The next inventor which will be discussed is Ellen Ochoa which is known not only as a female inventor but also an astronaut.

Ellen Ochoa took her bachelor of science degree in physics at San Diego University, while she took her master of science degree and doctorate in electrical engineering at Stanford University, however she was born in Los Angeles, California last May 10, 1958.

Ellen Ochoa developed an optical system designed to detect imperfections in repeating patterns. After the invention was patented in 1987, it was used for quality control in manufacturing. Up to this date, Ellen Ochoa gained three patents.

Aside from inventing, Dr. Ellen Ochoa has also been knows as a researcher and astronaut for NASA.
